All the “are you winning son” memes on my phone ranked from possibly problematic to wholesome
With some commentary. Yup, that's right, this is a filler post. But maybe it'll make you laugh.
When I first saw the “are you winning son” meme I really liked how it could be easily altered in creative ways, so I started saving on my phone all the ones I would come across. Not gonna lie, part of the reason I got a new phone was to double the available memory so that I would no longer have to be as selective about the memes I saved.
Recently, I went through my phone and found that I had 18 “are you winning son” memes saved and also one related TikTok. So here they all are, ranked from possibly problematic to wholesome (this is how I rank all content on the internet btw).
So suicide is not good and making a meme about it feels more than possibly problematic. I get that this is supposed to make fun of the (probably fake) text exchange at the top but it feels too graphic. So yeah, clear number 1 in this ranking.
This feels problematic mainly for the language. To be honest, there were probably way more problematic ones out there that I didn’t want to save to my phone. But this one made the cut.
This one may require some explanation. The dad grilling is actually another meme called “I Just Wanna Grill for God's Sake” which tends to be used to mock baby boomers for wanting to ignore the problems currently plaguing the world and instead focusing on the grill. The original caption for the grilling meme is “All the media says is 'racism, shootings, socialism, KKK' I just wanna grill for God's sake.” So yeah, feels a little problematic but maybe more like it’s making fun of something that’s problematic? Eh, feels safe to put it close to the top.
Not exactly problematic buy definitely not good.
Not that problematic without context but the “Yes Chad” meme is often used to spread problematic points of view, so I’m going to keep it in the top half.
Somewhere between problematic and wholesome is depressing. And that’s where we are at with this one.
Killing your dad is not good. Never has been.
Killing an astronaut who is observing your son feels a little less problematic though.
Not problematic but definitely not wholesome. You have to feel for him. 2020 has not been anyone’s year. Depressing themes come up a lot in the spectrum between problematic and wholesome. The font also just feels right for this existential meme.
This is a straight-up dig at boomers which tends to get a pass from me.
This one made me feel for the dad until the last sentence where he’s snarky towards his son. But I get it. It sounds like a tough position. Still, the dad loses some points for bragging about having a “stock portfolio.”
I think this one had a caption that made it a little sad but also wholesome. Something about the dad working hard to ensure his daughter thrived. Idk. I usually browse through memes right before bed when I’m drifting to sleep, so I could be way off.
Ethical dilemmas are no game but depending on his choice this could be really problematic to some people. But who’s to say. I personally think it’s kind of wholesome that he’s undergoing an ethical dilemma. It shows that he cares. Extra points for not even attempting some multi-track drifting.

Not that bad but those virtual orcas are definitely dead. Love the nostalgic touch that Zoo Tycoon adds to this.
A little sad but also wholesome. Love a wholesome crossover meme that is straight to the point. Dads who are good parental figures to people who aren’t their kids are always wholesome.
Similar to the last one. The direct father-to-son tenderness makes it a little more wholesome than the last two. But I am confused as to why his son is the grim reaper. Maybe his son is the Senate majority leader. It’s not at the most wholesome though because there technically is a lot of implied death in these grim reaper memes.
This just felt good. You have to love a dad who takes an interest in his kid’s life but isn’t too intrusive, unlike Timmy’s dad. And you have to love a son who has a healthy relationship with his dad. Good feelings all around!
Quite wholesome. And the detail of the kid’s legs being in a somewhat tense position in the second panel and then relaxing in the last is a nice touch.
This one is just too wholesome.
I hope you’ve liked this ranking. I doubt you agree with it. No one ever completely agrees with any ranking on the internet. I really do enjoy this meme for how versatile it is and it’s high crossover potential. If it sticks around maybe I’ll do a follow up someday.
